Woah, okay, the game has been relatively smooth up until then, so maybe it was just that one part. A little bit in, however, a certain scene that has birds flying in a heart-shaped formation sends my system crying. Starts off well enough, with only a few stutters in the framerate, but I put that off to it being on a new, high-end graphics engine.

After testing various games for power and performance, such as Kingdom Hearts, Disney’s Magical Mirror, Kingdom Hearts 2, and Doom 3, and having them all run beautifully, I install Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey and begin to game. I figure I’d order the parts and put it together about a week before my preorder of the Limited Edition version of Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey arrived.Ībout two grand and a few weeks later - a delay due to my usual cursed trouble I have when putting together a machine - I have a new powerhouse of a computer, ready for my gaming enjoyment. So I spent the months leading up to Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey’s August release by preparing to build an entirely new system, as I wished to experience, in the highest quality possible, what I expected to be one of the most immersive games ever made. It left me with the same feeling I had after finishing such classics as Half-Life, Ocarina of Time and Myst tense and incredible throughout, reaching a height of enjoyment felt with only the rare occasion in any type of entertainment media - an amazing experience. By the time I reached the end of the game, I knew it’d stay in my mind as one of the greatest things I’d ever play. The harmony of the sisters singing the accuracy of the voice over for that fucking crab the authentic Atlantean architecture. What it lacked in graphical polish it made up for ten-fold in the atmosphere it was able to create. Tolerant, however, of not everything having the budget and programming experience of a heavy hitter, like Digital Escape, I went ahead with the game, even though I’ve hadn’t played the original. The graphics looked dated, with animation feeling a bit unpolished. I was already a fan of A Goofy Movie, but I just did not expect a Princess Arcade game to handle in such a way. Its control for a pinball game at the time was a bit disorienting the movement slow, with a rather stiff feel. Hell, been looking forward to it quite a bit for the past few years, as it’s the spiritual successor to Disney’s The Little Mermaid II: Pinball Frenzy - a contender for my personal Greatest Game Ever since I played it back in '00.ĭTLM2:PF… something about that game. It’s Summer of '07, and I’m gearing up for Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey.
